Our Emergency Shelter is offered as a refuge for parents with at least one child. We do not admit single men, single women, or couples without children. If you are a single person in need, you may call our administrative office at 818-785-4476 for referrals to other locations that offer shelter, or you may call 211 (a social service hotline for LA County).

To qualify for our program, adults must be biological parents or be able to demonstrate custody through marriage or court documentation. Those with a disability, pregnancy, or other physical issues will be accommodated to a reasonable extent.

All applicants must be able to pass a drug test and must not be fleeing from a domestic violence situation. Those who have a recent history of domestic violence will be carefully considered on a case-by-case basis, with their safety as our greatest consideration.

Please note that boys ages 13 and older will be admitted at our discretion on a provisional basis only. We do not admit anyone on active parole or probation, nor do we admit registered sex offenders. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

Application Requirements

In order to process your application, you will need the following:

1. Picture I.D. and Social Security Card for adults.
2. Birth certificate and Social Security Card for children (up to age 17).
3. Ability to successfully pass a lice check and drug/alcohol test.

The Family Shelter provides a fresh start to homeless families by offering up to 90 days of free overnight shelter, Biblical counseling, and guidance toward social and economic improvement. Last year alone, the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission’s emergency shelter provided 9,700 nights of shelter to moms, dads and their children with over 50%…yes half, of the guests that stayed at the shelter being children 12 years of age and younger.
