Hot meals and a drive-thru pantry will allow us to serve more this Thanksgiving
This November marks our 21st year of serving the community at Thanksgiving. Although COVID-19 has caused us to shift our plans a bit as we consider the safety of those we serve, we remain committed to provide Thanksgiving meals during a time when food security is impacting more families in our community than ever before.
On Saturday, Nov. 20th, we will serve up to 700 families at our drive thru Thanksgiving food pantry. Families will be provided with all the items needed to cook their own Thanksgiving meal along with other staples. Without this box, Thanksgiving would likely be like any other day for these families, making whatever they can find or afford.
The following week, we will deliver over 500 hot meals to those who are currently living in local motel rooms without kitchens. Residents usually out looking to find a meal can enjoy a hot Thanksgiving meal right where they live. We’ll also be partnering with Hope Center in East LA to provide meals and hot showers to folks living on the streets.
This annual celebration is a vital outreach for the community to know that the Mission is here to provide year-round food, shelter, counseling, and life resources to the hundreds of homeless men, women and children in the San Fernando Valley and East Hollywood neighborhoods. As homelessness increases, we are uniquely positioned to respond. With your help, we can maximize our capacity to reach the marginalized in our community.
