A box of hope, a heart full of gratitude

Humberto receives food from the pantry at La Voz Church, where he now also volunteers.
Humberto has been connected with the food bank program at La Voz Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sylmar for three years. A friend first told him about the program, and over time he asked if there were opportunities to volunteer. Now, he finds “great joy” in being part of the team that distributes food to those in need each week.
“I work part‑time, and the box of food I receive helps me a lot,” Humberto said. “In these times we are living in, the high cost of living affects those of us who are less fortunate very deeply. Rent, transportation, and the price of food make survival very difficult with our limited budget.”
Humberto is grateful not only for the support he receives but for the people who make programs like this possible. “Thanks to our Almighty Creator, there are still people who raise their voices and support food bank programs for communities like ours that suffer most from the hardships and challenges of poverty.”
“I pray that God blesses you, protects you, and continues to pour out His blessings over this entire organization.”
Rescue Mission Alliance Valley Food Bank provides food for the La Voz Sylmar SDA pantry, which is open Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 13550 Herron St.
