One of the first places Mission guests experience hospitality is at our dinner table. The word “hospitality” means “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.” It is often over a meal that strangers become friends.

As we gathered for our annual Thanksgiving Feast this year, I was struck by how many volunteers came out to create a radically hospitable environment for our guests. It is the kind of hospitality that enhances dignity and lifts up those who experience it. It is about going above and beyond to help those we serve feel a sense of safety, joy, hope, respect, love, and belonging.
