Los Angeles Rams mascot Rampage and the team’s cheerleaders joined forces with Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions employees Tuesday in Northridge, where they kicked off a holiday party at the Rescue Mission Alliance San Fernando Valley.
Much to the delight of about 60 homeless and needy families, volunteers handed out autographed Rams gear, grocery store gift certificates and boxes of food.
Included among the gifts were Hormel hams for the families to take home.
“Whatever hams we do not distribute will go the San Fernando Valley Food Bank. So those hams will stay in the Valley,” said Jenna Watkinson, the grocery chain’s spokeswoman.
The families also got to take part in Rams PLAY 60 activities, with Rampage leading the way.
After working up an appetite, the families went into the mission’s dining room to enjoy a holiday dinner prepared by the grocery chain.
