Providing Hope Through Financial Literacy

Man giving presentation

Operation Hope started with a vision to see financial investment and opportunity created in low-income communities in America. The organization’s founder, John Hope Bryant, was moved by the devastation that occurred in low-income communities during the Watts Riots. His background as a banker provided him with a unique perspective on many of the root causes of the riots and unique opportunities to intervene in effective ways. Today, the agency has helped more than 2.5 million individuals, directed more than $1.8 billion in private capital to America’s low-wealth communities, and serves more than 300 U.S. cities.

The Rescue Mission established a partnership with Operation Hope in 2015 and has since seen dozens of our clients greatly benefit from their services. The agency provides free credit-repair classes and one-on-one financial counseling sessions. Operation Hope staff work with lenders to dispute credit issues and consolidate loans. One of our former guests, Francine, shared, “Operation Hope helped me understand the importance of credit. They also helped me dispute things that were too old to even be on my credit report. Because of their help, I was able to pass the credit check for my apartment that I reside in today. I am so grateful for their help.” We are also grateful for our partnership with Operation Hope and the amazing services they provide for the community!
