Stories that Inspire.

Victories to Celebrate.

Director’s Note

RMA SFV Director Josie Casarrubias

As the Director of RMA San Fernando Valley, I am continually inspired by the incredible work we do and by the generosity of our donors, who help change lives for good.

During the recent Los Angeles County wildfires, we witnessed an overwhelming outpouring of support from our community. Your generosity was nothing short of amazing. One fire-affected family shared, “God’s people are everywhere, looking for ways to help.”

In addition to our vulnerable neighbors already in need, fire victims, especially families, are now also experiencing homelessness due to financial hardship, lack of hotel assistance, and limited emergency services.

Through it all, our doors have remained open – welcoming victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, and those displaced by the fires. This year alone, we have helped transition eight families into stable housing. That means 14 children, seven women, and four fathers are now off the streets and free from the fear, pain, and trauma of homelessness.

In just a few weeks, our men’s program will celebrate the graduation of six incredible men who have successfully completed our 10-month recovery program. With our support, they made the life-changing decision to leave addiction behind. In our next newsletter, we will share their powerful stories of recovery, highlighting their journey and achievements.

The need in our community remains great, but we cannot do this work alone. We need partners like you to volunteer, host dinners, teach classes, provide childcare, donate financially, and pray for the families in our shelter and the men in recovery.

A heartfelt thank you to our donors, volunteers, and community partners who continue to sow seeds of love, hope, and transformation in the lives of those we serve. I want to give a special shoutout to our Volunteers of the Month from Bank of America. For the past 10 years, they have faithfully supported the Mission, by hosting monthly birthday celebrations for our residents. Their commitment is a true testament to the power of community.

Additionally, Ja’Net Balloons provides generous monthly balloon arrangements to the Home Again Family Shelter to make the celebrations extra special. Her creative and joyful designs brighten the space, bringing smiles to the faces of the children we serve.

Lastly, I want to warmly welcome our new Case Manager, Valeria Gonzalez. In just two months at the Mission, she has already made a tremendous impact. She has been an incredible blessing to our families and a wonderful addition to our team. We are so grateful to have her!

Together, we are making a difference. Thank you for your continued support!

With gratitude,

Josie Casarrubias
