Finding Laughter in the Midst of Struggle: Fall Festival at the Mission

Kids in costumes

While facing homelessness, it can be difficult to spend quality time with family. The strain of job and housing searches, and the disruption of normal routine can truly take its toll on families. Here at the Mission, we recognize this, and with the holidays upon us, we look for ways to allow families to find that time to come together.

This year, we held a Fall Festival for current and former families. Guests painted pumpkins together, created festive decorations for the Mission’s outside patio, and with the help of the local community, guests also got to pick out costumes for their kids to enjoy at school functions. In the midst of this difficult season in their lives, our guests were able to enjoy time together. This could not have happened without the support of the community. We want to say a special thank you to Ralphs and Wooden Nickel Lighting for their help in providing festive materials and costumes to help make this event a special time for the families who participated.
