Community Healing Massage Shows The Value Of Self-Care

People getting massage

Stress is something we all encounter throughout our day-to-day lives. For many, stress can be constant and debilitating; this is especially true for those experiencing homelessness. Rebekah Kujawsky wanted to find a way to offer healing through massage therapy to individuals in need who do not have access to this type of care, so she started her non-profit, Community Healing Massage.

When Rebekah reached out to us last fall, we were excited to give our guests the opportunity for some rest and relaxation. Community Healing Massage comes one Saturday per month and spends two hours providing chair massage to our guests. Each time Rebekah and her team come, the guests feel rejuvenated, valued, and relaxed!

“You guys made my day and my week,” said one client, who describes herself as “a very stressed mom.” “Most importantly, you made me happy!”

Not only does this organization help provide dignity to our guests through its services, but it’s also helping our guests learn the value of self-care. The parents in our program sacrifice many of their own needs as they work to provide for their families, so we are very grateful to engage with partners who can remind our guests that caring for themselves is an important part of their success. Through enrichment activities such as Community Healing Massage visits, we hope to teach our guests life skills that will stick with them long after they leave our program.
